Meredith L. Reuter, MSW, CSW
Meredith’s desire to work as a therapist stems from her genuine desire to make and support positive change in lives of individuals. She received her Masters of Social Work from the George Warren Brown school of Social Work, from Washington University in Saint Louis, MO. Her training and education are extensive and comprehensive with specialties that include mood disorders, body image and eating disorders, and psychiatric rehabilitation. She has been trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy and brief outcome therapy, and in Equine Assisted Psycho-therapy.
Meredith’s work experience includes clinical services for a state psychiatric hospital, and for a nonprofit organization supporting adults with severe and persistent mental illness. She’s also worked with adolescents in residential treatment. Her research projects include a study on mental health outcomes for adults with severe mental illness, and project with a cognitive psychiatric lab. Meredith has also volunteer time in emergency rooms, animal shelters, and with a non-profit organization that provides mental health services and work training for women seeking addiction recovery. Meredith continues to practice and study dimensions of substance abuse related to eating disorders and women’s issues.
Art was Meredith’s minor in college; her emphasis in painting and drawing. As part of her studies she spent a month in Florence, Italy in an intensive painting and drawing program. Her class spent most mornings on walking tours with their professor studying some of the nearly endless works of art; afternoons were spent painting and drawing the likeness of these master works. She still creates art in her free time. Meredith is also an avid athlete. She has been a competitive runner for most of her adult life, and played on her college soccer team. She regularly competes in triathlons and half-marathons. If you want to find Meredith outside of work, look for her running on a local trail, on the local back roads fiercely peddling on her road bike, or cooking and laughing with friends.
