The abuse of alcohol and other drugs impacts every member of the family. In addition to weekly phone sessions with your Passages To Recovery therapist or counselor, you will have the opportunity to attend a two-day workshop.

When a person chooses to engage in mind-altering substances, they do so at the expense of displacing relationships with all others. The traditional peoples of North America used the term “Other” to include one’s relationship to not only other humans but to all living things including the changing of the seasons. The Passages to Recovery experience fundamentally reverses the addictive process for you and your family. Your family member has learned to trade the unnatural highs of addiction for the natural highs of good relationships. It’s a worthwhile trade and he wants to keep it. You will learn what is for you to do and how to best serve in your role.

The Family Workshop encompasses open, honest communication that is healthy for all involved. Recovery is, in many ways, an inner journey, and people with addictions often feel alone. In their aloneness, they ache and yearn for another state of mind and body. Passages To Recovery’s Family Workshop illuminates the re-bonding process.

While the your family member is in treatment, we strongly encourage each family to engage in a Family Systemic Training in their hometown, facilitated by a licensed professional as a psycho educational workshop, to provide in-depth understanding of how their family functions and the ways in which each family member might alter their own actions toward better health and wellbeing for the whole family. This 3-day process involves an additional fee, and we will facilitate communication between Integral Family Solutions and the family to arrange for this training.
